The General Medical Council (GMC) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) are hosting a meeting in order to discuss education to support preparedness of UK doctors to manage bereavement communication.

It is hoped that each UK medical and foundation school will be represented at the meeting in addition to representatives from other relevant organisations. The meeting will provide an opportunity for a national discussion about current training for this area of practice, including where any deficiencies in preparedness may exist and what can be done to lead to improvements in this area. It is likely to be of particular relevance to individuals leading curriculum development, professionalism and communication skills training.
