SUPPORT AROUND DEATH

Statement on our work during the vaccine rollout

NES Grief & Bereavement workstream during COVID-19

09/02/21

In light of the emphasis on the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, and the ongoing lockdown situation across Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland’s Grief & Bereavement workstream is aware that professionals delivering health and care services may be facing particular and additional challenges. We are keen to continue to support the health and social care workforce through education and training, particularly as it may relate to their experience of grief and bereavement in the course of their work, but do not wish to take time from frontline staff where this may add to pressures on service provision.

We will therefore continue to work on our online learning webinars and events, as listed on our Support Around Death Events webpage, which practitioners can participate in should their current working requirements enable them to do so. In addition to this, we will continue (where possible) to record our webinars and events for viewing at a later date, and make them available along with related resources via our Previous Webinars page. We are also developing other educational resources that professionals can access from the Support Around Death website, including films and animated materials, e-Learning modules, and written resources.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at SupportAroundDeath@nes.scot.nhs.uk should you have any questions around our current or future work, resources, or learning events. In the meantime, a range of bereavement-related COVID resources and learning materials for staff working in health and social care can be accessed here: http://www.sad.scot.nhs.uk/covid-19/

Additionally, for updates on the work of the Grief & Bereavement workstream, and other bereavement care-related news for health and social care professionals, you can subscribe to our quarterly e-Newsletter at this link.
